Purpose of the site

This site publishes mythological stories drawn from a number of cultural traditions, retold for general readers. The content is offered for educational and entertainment purposes. While I work to keep the source details accurate, the site is not a peer-reviewed academic resource. Do not cite it for scholarly research without independently verifying claims against primary sources.

Copyright

The original mythological material this site draws on - stories from the Aeneid, the Mahabharata, the Eddas, the Kojiki, and many others - is in the public domain. The retellings on this site, however, are original prose. The text of each story page, the editorial structure, the At a Glance summaries, the site design, and the assembled collection are all under copyright by Praveen Kumar.

You are welcome to share links to individual story pages on social media, in messages, and in writing. You may quote a sentence or two for review or commentary purposes. You may not copy entire stories or large portions of them and republish them elsewhere without permission.
